Love is flying your three month old daughter twelve thousand miles around the world to place her in her grandmothers living room with a note that will read “I missed you too much“.
This is what my friend is doing right now.
I well up everytime I think about how happy her Mum is going to be when she finds this incredible gift waiting for her at home today.
Aren't people wonderful? There's a lot of bad in this world and even the most upbeat of people can get dragged down by the undertow but if everyone took just a little minute to look around and see the fantastic kindness and love that flows from their nearest and dearest it wouldn't matter how wet or cold a May we're having, as long as we know we're sharing it with the right people.
I really admire my friend and, though this is no selfless act (she misses her family more than she can express), you have to hand it to her for style and grace. I couldn't keep a secret that big, and there are a lot of people in on it too.
I have everything crossed that this works out for them and that no one gives the game away. It could be one of the most special moments her Mums life and it takes just two people with one baby to make that happen.
I'm sorry that this is neither about stitches, stews or stylish hues but too often I find we're fast to judge others or let the world get us down and as my mind kept drifting thousands of miles away to an adorable baby and her two incredibly brave and loving parents I thought it might be good to focus on the bright side of life.
I didn't get to see a blue sky today but hopefully my friend will and if she doesn't her journey will be rewarded by so much love, and possibly a few happy tears, when so many of her friends and family see her and get to meet her child for the very first time.
It certainly is a wonderful life, and I for one am happy to be sharing it with the people that make up my world.
