Aside from knowing I'm only working three days this week *insert giddy skipping here* is knowing that everything at home is under control. If you've read my blog before you'll know I'm mad about to do lists and being able to tick items off and in that sense this weekend has been a little special. I've literally managed to tick something off of each list; chores, shopping and crafting! Woohoo! Smaller lists make for a happy girlie!
So, what did I get up to this weekend? Well, after spending a lovely day at Penshurst Place with friends on Sat I started looking into my knitting commission and weighing up which pattern to use. My customer isn't particularly specific about what she wants but, being intimidatingly on-trend, has been somewhat non-committal over two patterns I'd thought might have hit the spot. So I resigned myself to work from one whilst using the neckline from the other. I'm not completely confident that I'm making the right choice but as it's paid work from someone I don't really know I'm trying to focus on keeping time to a minimum so that I can get the jumper to her as early as possible without having to charge a ludicrous fee.
Anyway, what this really means is that I tried it the first way which went wrong so logic suggests the easier pattern is the way to this lovely lady's heart and into my purse so that I can pay for the Sirdar Nova wool that I've prematurely ordered from Black Sheep Wools to make this beauty (as I'm blogging on my iPod I think the image will appear at the end, let me know if you know how to insert image mid-post). I've had my heart set on making this cardie for such a long time and now that it's finally in my sights I can't wait. I will have to be really good and get cracking on my WIPs before I start that pattern...
Although my WIPs didn't stop me making the bag from the Cath Kidston book Sew! I'm ashamed to say that I can't remember how long ago that book was given to me so I'm unashamedly pretending that this was a WIP from very far away despite never having even touched the fabric before. I'll post a little piccie at the end but suffice to say it was made up in a few hours with much huffing and puffing from me and directed at my machine (naughty bobbin!) and although the tension is a little off I'm pleased with it. She's currently holding another project and is slung over the arm of our sofa delighted to be off of the crafting shelves and embracing her true purpose in life!
Oh yes, crafting shelves! More on those later, I've taken pics of them and my knitty stash and will post pics very soon.
For now though I'm off to read The Psychopath Test and enjoy a little peace and quiet before work in the morning.
Hope you all had a lovely weekend,
xxx
